Behavioral consultation provides individualized assessment and collaborative problem solving to better understand and address behavioral challenges. Services are grounded in principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and focus on identifying patterns, environmental influences, and possible functions of behavior in order to develop meaningful and practical support strategies.
Consultation may involve reviewing current challenges, identifying possible triggers or maintaining factors, and developing individualized recommendations that can be implemented across natural environments such as the home, school, and community. The goal is to help families and professionals move beyond reacting to behaviors and instead develop thoughtful, proactive strategies that support long term skill development and independence.
Behavioral consultation also prioritizes goals that are meaningful to the individual and their support system. Rather than focusing only on immediate concerns, recommendations are designed to promote skills and supports that can continue to benefit the individual and family in the years ahead.
Examples of what this may include
• Identifying possible triggers and functions of challenging behaviors
• Reviewing current strategies and identifying opportunities for improvement
• Developing individualized behavior support strategies
• Supporting skill development in areas such as communication, independence, and social interaction
• Problem solving behavioral challenges occurring at home, school, or other environments
• Collaborating with caregivers, educators, or other professionals to promote consistency across settings

BCBA supervision is available for individuals completing supervised fieldwork hours toward certification in behavior analysis. Supervision focuses on strengthening conceptual understanding, clinical reasoning, and ethical decision making through structured discussion, case review, and competency development grounded in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Supervision typically includes individualized conceptual meetings where supervisees review cases, analyze behavioral data, discuss intervention strategies, and strengthen applied and ethical decision making skills. These meetings are designed to support the development of clinical reasoning and professional competence while ensuring supervision remains aligned with current professional and ethical standards.
Depending on circumstances, supervisees may also gain experience through consultation cases served by Catalyst Behavioral Health, such as parent training, behavioral consultation, and/or organizational consultation services. Additional fieldwork experience may occur through the supervisee’s place of employment or other approved service settings. When supervision involves external organizations or service settings, appropriate coordination and agreements may be required.
Individuals who are currently employed in a clinical or human service setting are encouraged to review their employer’s policies or supervision agreements to confirm that outside supervision arrangements are permitted prior to initiating services.
All supervision activities and documentation are maintained in accordance with current supervision requirements and ethical guidelines established by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
Examples of what this may include
• Case conceptualization and behavior analysis discussion
• Reviewing intervention strategies and behavior plans
• Data interpretation and treatment evaluation
• Discussing the function of behavior and environmental variables influencing behavior
• Preparing for competency development and certification requirements
• Discussing ethical considerations and professional responsibilities in applied settings
• Developing clinical reasoning and decision making skills
• Reviewing supervision documentation and fieldwork expectations
• Reflecting on professional development and responsible practice in behavior analysis
